Chu Chin Chow is a musical comedy written, produced and directed by Oscar Asche, with music by Frederic Norton, based, with embellishments, on the story of Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves. The play premiered at His Majesty’s Theatre in London on August 31, 1916 and ran for five years and a total of 2,238 performances (more than twice as many as any previous musical), a record that stood for nearly forty years.

The Mountaineers is a musical comedy written by Guy Eden, with music by Reginald Somerville. The opera first appeared at the Savoy Theatre in 1909 under the management of Charles Workman. He was the principal comedian at the Savoy and famous for his portrayals of the comedy roles in Gilbert and Sullivan operas. Workman played one of the lead roles in The Mountaineers.

Two Merry Monarchs is a musical comedy with Libretto by Arthur Anderson and George N. Levy, Lyrics by Arthur Anderson and Hartley Carrick, Music by Orlando Morgan. The opera first appeared at the Savoy Theatre in 1910 under the management of Charles Workman. He was the principal comedian at the Savoy and famous for his portrayals of the comedy roles in Gilbert and Sullivan operas. Workman played one of the lead roles in Two Merry Monarchs.

The Warlock - Libretto by Alfred Smythe
There was a controversy between Alfred Smythe and Sydney Grundy, where Grundy may have appropriated ideas from Smythe’s The Warlock for use in Haddon Hall. Smythe was an Irish poet of some note, and with composer Edgar Little, created the “entirely new and original romantic comedy opera” which is included here.
