No. 15 - Song - Daisy - "The prettiest girl in town."

MIDI File

Daisy: There's a girl who is always so busy,
What Americans call "out of sight,"
Before you have murmur'd "good-morning,"
She flings you a friendly "good-night."
She starts with the soup at the Carlton,
Then "tournedo's" at the Savoy;
And while you are paying the "addition,"
She says "au revoir, little boy."
She's around,
And she's always to be found
In a brand new hat and gown,
And she's never still a minute,
For whatever's on she's in it —
She's the busiest girl in town.
Chorus: She's around,
And she's always to be found
In a brand new hat and gown,
And she's never still a minute,
For whatever's on she's in it —
She's the busiest girl in town.

Daisy: She is what you may call rather chatty,
With a liberal share of the gab.
She shouts all her secrets in Church time,
And sings in a nice hansom cab.
If you take her at night to a theatre,
You don't hear a word of the play,
And afterwards seated at supper,
You can't get a word in edgeway.
She'll dilate
Till she's broken ev'ry plate,
And the orchestra she'll drown.
It's like sitting on a thistle
When you're supping at the Cecil
With the chattiest girl in town.
Chorus: She'll dilate
Till she's broken ev'ry plate,
And the orchestra she'll drown.
It's like sitting on a thistle
When you're supping at the Cecil
With the chattiest girl in town.

Daisy: There is no denying she is silly,
Her foolishness she will declare.
For years she adored poor Adolphus,
Then she married a mere millionaire.
If at bridge you invite her to join you,
She stammers a ready reply,
"I only know Beggar-my-Neighbour,
But I'm perfectly willing to try."
She'll exclaim
At the finish of the game,
If perchance her luck goes down,
"Oh! I hope you do not mind, sir,
But I've left my purse behind, sir,
I'm the silliest girl in town."
Chorus: She'll exclaim
At the finish of the game,
If perchance her luck goes down,
"Oh! I hope you do not mind, sir,
But I've left my purse behind, sir,
I'm the silliest girl in town."

Daisy: You ask me to tell you the reason
Why she is a social success.
It isn't her money or manners,
It isn't her voice or her dress;
Her figure is that of a fairy,
Her complexion is Devonshire cream,
Her smile is like sunshine in summer,
Her face is the face of your dream.
She's the queen
When she comes upon the scene,
And it's useless, girls, to frown.
Though you may not think her clever,
There is not a doubt whatever,
She's the prettiest girl in town.
Chorus: She's the queen
When she comes upon the scene,
And it's useless, girls, to frown.
Though you may not think her clever,
There is not a doubt whatever,
She's the prettiest girl in town.
