No. 9 - Song - Peggy and Chorus - "Tinker, tailor."

MIDI File

Peggy: In a certain village there liv'd a maid,
A gen'ral favourite she,
When she was around, a crowd she found
Wherever she chanced to be.
When she walked about all the men turned out,
And rudely started holloaing,
Wherever she'd go there were high and low,
And among them the following:
Tinker, tailor, soldier, sailor,
'Pothecary, plough-boy, and thief;
They all adored her, bothered and bored her,
Worried her life beyond belief;
In the market-place she hid her face
within her little pocket handkerchief
From tinker, tailor, soldier, sailor,
'Pothecary, plough-boy, thief.
Men: Tinker, tailor, soldier, sailor,
'Pothecary, plough-boy, and thief;
They all adored her, bothered and bored her,
Worried her life beyond belief;
In the market-place she hid her face
within her little pocket handkerchief
From tinker, tailor, soldier, sailor,
'Pothecary, plough-boy, thief.

Peggy: Now this maid was terribly shy, I fear,
As maidens usually are,
She seemed demure, but was, I'm sure,
Much worse than the rest by far.
From London town, a youth came down,
Her tales of coyness swallowing.
'Neath stars above he declared his love,
While behind him were following:
Tinker, tailor, soldier, sailor,
'Pothecary, plough-boy, and thief;
They all adored her, bothered and bored her,
Worried her life beyond belief;
As on they walked and fondly talked,
Behind her back she waved her handkerchief
To tinker, tailor, soldier, sailor,
'Pothecary, plough-boy, thief.
Men: Tinker, tailor, soldier, sailor,
'Pothecary, plough-boy, and thief;
They all adored her, bothered and bored her,
Worried her life beyond belief;
As on they walked and fondly talked,
Behind her back she waved her handkerchief
To tinker, tailor, soldier, sailor,
'Pothecary, plough-boy, thief.

Peggy: Now this maiden married that youth from town,
As probably you've guess'd,
And they live on the fat,
In a furnish'd flat,
In a very smart square up West.
They possess a rollicking family now
Who make a terrible noise.
It's sad to relate but I beg to state,
There are three girls and seven boys;
Tinker, tailor, soldier, sailor,
'Pothecary, plough-boy, and thief;
They all adored her, bothered and bored her,
Worried her life beyond belief;
But she finds a knot will make a lot
of diff'rence in a pocket handkerchief
On a tinker, tailor, soldier, sailor,
'Pothecary, plough-boy, thief.
Men: Tinker, tailor, soldier, sailor,
'Pothecary, plough-boy, and thief;
They all adored her, bothered and bored her,
Worried her life beyond belief;
But she finds a knot will make a lot
of diff'rence in a pocket handkerchief
On a tinker, tailor, soldier, sailor,
'Pothecary, plough-boy, thief.
