No. 7 - Solo - Anhotep - "It was early in the morning."
Anhotep: | It was early in the morning as I wrote a joyous sonnet, Purr, purr, purr, Pussy sang beneath my window and I dropped a brick upon it, Purr, purr, purr, And there came a quick cessation of the row. For though Tabby's lives are legion, If you smash the dorsal region They have scarcely time to gasp out one Miaow! I opened wide the window, I called "Pussy, are you dead?" Purr, purr, purr, Then I stole down in my slippers and I sat upon her head, Purr, purr, purr, And reflected on her very sorry state. She should have had nine lives at least, But though I cut off one poor beast, I couldn't well insure the other eight. So I tied some dum-dum bullets round her poor unhappy head Purr, purr, purr, Then I packed her in a hamper with a pound or two of lead, Purr, purr, purr, In a fishpond then I put that cat to bed, And as I'm an early riser, Why, then no one is the wiser Except pussy, and poor pussy — well, she's dead! |
