Adelina Motte (1880-81)

Adelina Sophia Motte began he professional career with the Castle-Campbell Opera Company. Between 1872 and 1878 she appeared from time to time in the New York area, invariably on the concert stage. From February to July 1880 Madame Motte, as she was billed, toured North American as Ruth in The Pirates of Penzance with D'Oyly Carte's Third American Pirates Company. She had a second engagement as Ruth on another American D'Oyly Carte tour, from November 1880 until the tour's end in February 1881.
She was later a choir trainer and sang in the choir of the Church of the Incantation, New York City.
