Soprano Eileen Moody was the grand-niece of Charles Manners. Prior to joining the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company, she appeared in the West End as Violette in A Kiss in Spring (Alhambra, November 1932-January 1933). She also appeared elsewhere in The Student Prince, The New Moon, and Lilac Time.
She joined the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company in 1933, filling in in June of that year for Muriel Dickson as Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance. In August 1933 she was promoted to principal soprano, playing Mabel, Phyllis in Iolanthe (shared with Miss Dickson), Yum-Yum in The Mikado, Rose Maybud in Ruddigore, and Casilda in The Gondoliers for the 1933-34 season. She yielded Mabel to Kathleen Francis in August 1934, and left the Company in May 1935.
