Nancy Kate "Kathy" Montelli was a daughter of long-time D'Oyly Carte Opera Comique and Savoy chorister T. J. Montelli. She was reportedly a touring chorister with the D'Oyly Carte organization at some point, but it's unclear when and with which company.

Two of her siblings also appeared on tour with the D'Oyly Carte organization. Sister Annie was a principal mezzo-soprano in 1885 and 1887; brother Frederick was a touring chorister.
