Isobel McLaren (1898-99)

Mezzo-soprano Isobel McLaren was for a short time with the D'Oyly Carte Repertory Opera Company. Between July 1921 and April 1922 she appeared as first Kate, then Isabel in The Pirates of Penzance, the Lady Angela in Patience, and Leila in Iolanthe.

She later appeared in London at the Lyric, Hammersmith, as Donna Clara in the comic opera The Duenna (October 1924-February 1925). It appears she continued her career abroad. When she died in 1979 in South Africa, Variety described her as a long time opera singer.
