THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY
Millie Marsden (1887)
[Born London 1866]
Early in her career, Millie Marsden was in the chorus with a D'Oyly Carte Opera Company touring Germany, Austria and Holland in H.M.S. Pinafore, Patience, and The Mikado, April-November 1887. She went on on occasion as Peep-Bo in The Mikado.
She later toured America with the Agnes Huntington Company, appearing in New York in Paul Jones (Broadway, October-November 1890, Union Square, February-March 1892) and Captain Therese (Union Square, February 1892).
In 1893-94 she appeared the burlesque Little Christopher Columbus (Lyric and Terry's) and a shorter companion piece, Weatherwise (Lyric). She was also in a single matinee performance to the burlesque The Two Orphans at the Lyric.
A Millicent Marsden, possibly the same lady, gave seven performances in the drama A Crown of Thorns at the Olympic in October 1896.
