Kate French (1880)
Kate French assumed the role of Kate in The Pirates of Penzance with D'Oyly Carte's Second American Pirates Company in February 1880, at Philadelphia's Broad Street Theatre, appearing until in that part until March when she changed placed with May Lennox and assumed the role of Edith. She did not have a named part when the Company took up H.M.S. Pinafore, April 12-May 1.
Her first part on the New York Stage was Sally in Dudley Buck's opera Deseret, conducted by Buck himself, at Haverley's Fourteenth Street Theatre in October 1880. She later appeared in New York in Olivette with the Comly-Barton Company (1880-81), and in a pair of dramas with music (Unser Fritz and Fritz in Ireland) in 1884.
