Harry Frankiss (1897-98)

Harry Frankiss (birth name Franckeiss) appeared in the D'Oyly Carte chorus at the Savoy for the new production of The Grand Duchess of Gerolstein (December 1897-March 1898), the original production of The Beauty Stone (May-July 1898), and the subsequent revival of The Sorcerer with Trial by Jury (September-December 1898). He was presumably in the chorus for the intervening revival of The Gondoliers. During December 1898, he was one of four tenors to take the part of the Defendant in Trial by Jury following the departure of Cory James.

Frankiss was married to fellow D'Oyly Carte artist Madge Vincent. He later appeared in London in the musical The Dashing Little Duke (Hicks, 1909), and Messager's romantic opera Monsieir Beaucaire (Princes, 1919), as well as a few legitimate plays, the last being The Night Cap (Duke of York's, 1922). He also appeared in New York in Monsieir Beaucaire (New Amsterdam Theatre, 1919-20).
