Peter Charters (1949-51)

Peter Charters was a member of the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company chorus for the two seasons bridging August 1949 and August 1951.During his second season he shared the small part of Second Citizen in The Yeomen of the Guard with Peter Pratt.

Charters was married to D'Oyly Carte chorister Caryl Fane. In 1959, he rejoined the RAF, serving in Rheindahlen, West Germany, in the early 1960s, where he played comic leads in several military Gilbert & Sullivan productions directed by his wife. A keen amateur and semi-professional singer throughout his life, he performed often in the Cheltenham Music Festival and in local concerts in Witham, Essex.
