Henry Brandreth (1893-95)

Henry Barrett Brandreth was a member of the D'Oyly Carte "B" Company chorus from 1893 to 1895. He appeared as one of the Puritans (Sing-Song Simeon) in Haddon Hall in November and December 1893, deputized for Albert Kavanagh as Captain Corcoran and Calynx in Utopia Limited in July 1894, and in 1895 filled in on occasion as Ferdinand de Roxas in The Chieftain.
Shortly after the turn of the century Brandreth became General Manager of the Kennington Theatre. He remained there until after the outbreak of World War I, at which time he became General Manager of the Carl Rosa Opera Company. In November 1921 he contracted a chill while in Manchester on business. He returned to London, but developed pleurisy, followed by pneumonia. He died on December 4, 1921, at the age of 52.
