Published in “Psalms and Hymns for Divine Worship”, Nisbet, 1867. Another edition, 1872.
 In “The Hymnary”, Novello, 1872, the tune appears as “Formosa” three times.
In “Church Hymns with Tunes”, S.P.C.K., 1874, it appears twice as “Falfield”.
In “Church Praise”, Nisbet, 1883, it is called “Falfield or Formosa”.

1 Love Divine, all loves excelling,   2 Come, Almighty to deliver,
    Joy of Heav’n, to earth come down,       Let us all Thy grace receive;
  Fix in us Thy humble dwelling,     Suddenly return, and never,
    All Thy faithful mercies crown.       Never more Thy temples leave.
  Jesu, Thou art all compassion,     Thee we would be always blessing,
    Pure unbounded love Thou art;       Serve Thee as Thy Hosts above;
  Visit us with Thy salvation,     Pray, and praise Thee, without ceasing,
    Enter every trembling heart.       Glory in Thy perfect love.

3 Finish then Thy new creation,
    Pure and spotless let us be;
  Let us see Thy great salvation,
    Perfectly restored in Thee.
  Changed from glory into glory,
    Till in Heav’n we take our place,
  Till we cast our crowns before Thee,
    Lost in wonder, love, and praise. Amen.
