No. 5 - Song - Cupid - "I'm the only Caddie."

MIDI File

Cupid: I keep my eye on those maidens three,
And strictly entre nous,
They always manage to find for me
A lot of jobs to do.
Although I'm certainly not full-grown,
And none too highly paid,
I often act as a chaperon,
As well as a lady's maid.
But I'm only the caddie,
A wee little bit of a laddie.
I carry their clubs and cloaks all day,
But never, oh! never get in the way,
And I'm paid by their daddy.
I suit them to a "tee,"
I know my place, and don't much care
If they pat my face, or pull my hair,
For I'm only the caddie,
And they don't mind me.

Miss Edna's simple and sweet and coy,
As ev'ryone remarks;
Miss Ada ought to have been a boy,
She's always up to larks.
Miss Hilda's harder to understand,
Her mind is deep, no doubt,
She keeps her weather eye open, and
She knows her way about.
But I'm only the caddie,
A wee little bit of a laddie.
I study them all, but if I'm pressed
I couldn't say which I like the best.
Tho' young ladies are faddy,
We seldom disagree,
If any gent would care to wait
I won't prevent a tête-à-tête,
For I'm only the caddie,
So you won't mind me!
