She's a trifle fly, she is always dry, And she'll love you, if you'll let her, Till fast in the net of the little coquette Is someone she fancies better. Ah! the little soubrette is a costly pet, She never, no, never contracts a debt, For the debt expands whenever she lands, And she lands whenever she leads, you bet. |

| Daisy: | A soubrette is a maid who's never afraid, Tho' often she seems to be shy. That is part of the play, you can tell right away By the twinkle that lurks in her eye. If you ask her to drink, she will tip you a wink, For she fancies a supper that's wet. But if you are broke, you'll be sorry you spoke, For diamonds are trumps, you bet. Ah! the little soubrette is a costly pet, She tramples on hearts without regret. But whenever she kicks, it's a minute to six By the toes and the hose of the little soubrette. |
